BU's Vanartsdalen Becomes NCAA Division II's All-Time Leading Field Hockey Scorer

PHILADELPHIA--Jamie Vanartsdalen (Huntingdon Valley/Lower Moreland) became NCAA Division II's all-time leading scorer when she tallied two goals and one assist in the Huskies 7-1 win over Philadelphia University on Wednesday.

Vanartsdalen, who came into the game with 203 career points, scored at the 11:46 mark to get within one point of the all-time record and in the process set Bloomsburg's career goal scoring mark with her 83rd goal. She broke the mark of 82 set by Denise Miller (1989-92).Vanartsdalen got the tying point in the second when she assisted on Brieann Wolfe's (Perkasie/Pennridge) goal at the 42-minute mark, then surpassed the 206 points of Lock Haven's Melanie Helm (1993-96) with a goal in the 63rd minute. Her next mark to chase will be the D-II all-time record for career goals which is 93 held by Terry Voit of Longwood (1974-77).

In addition to Vanartsdalen's two goals and one assist, Wolfe finished with two goals, while Samantha Kropa (Tunkhannock/Lackawanna Trail), Breanne Tobin (Perkasie/Pennridge) and Amanda Riley (Tannersville/Pocono Mountain East) all added goals for the Huskies.

Bloomsburg, 3-0, will play at Seton Hill on Sunday at 4 p.m.
